Modern Office collaborated with designers GHD Tauranga to redesign Fulton Hogan's Mt Maunganui office, drawing inspiration from the local landscape's natural elements. The aim was to create a functional, aesthetically pleasing environment that reflects the surrounding area's beauty while meeting Fulton Hogan's unique needs.
The design incorporated a colour palette and materials inspired by Tauranga's natural elements. The ground floor featured warm shades of the sun, ocean, and sand, while the first floor used lush greens and earthy tones, creating a serene workspace.
The office layout was planned to support both independent and collaborative work. Private areas for each team ensured focus, while team-based areas encouraged collaboration. Hard-wearing, easy-to-maintain fabrics and materials were selected to suit Fulton Hogan's team of site workers, and were specifically chosen to minimise the visibility of dirt and dust.
Durability was a priority, with furniture tested for sturdiness and longevity. Cleanstone tops, made from upcycled plastic waste, were used for tables, offering a low-carbon, recyclable solution along with blue and orange accents which represented Fulton Hogan's company colours.
The redesign of Fulton Hogan's office by Modern Office successfully combined natural elements with a functional layout to create an effective and aesthetically pleasing workspace. The use of durable materials and thoughtful design choices ensured a workspace that meets the practical needs of the team while reflecting the beauty of Tauranga's landscape.
